Research and Interests
My dissertation research investigated the brain activity of individuals with chronic low back pain using resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) and virtual reality combined with EEG.
My current research focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment in individuals with cardiovascular disease, particularly heart failure. I investigate questions such as: Which EEG measures differ in individuals with heart failure compared with healthy adults? How are these measures associated with clinical indicators of disease severity, morbidity, and mortality? What physiological mechanisms drive these neural changes?
Ultimately, my goal is to identify brain-based markers that improve our understanding of cognitive decline and inform strategies for earlier detection and intervention.
